The Gay Spirit Radio Archive Project at True Colors, Inc. in Hartford, Connecticut presents digital stories featuring materials from Gay Spirit – America’s longest continuously-running LGBTQ radio show. Recorded material includes interviews with authors, entertainers, and activists who were and continue to be instrumental in LGBTQ+ community across Greater Hartford area and the country.  The Gay Spirit Radio Archive Project aims to create a digital archive focused on LGBTQ+ history and associate cultural heritage and promote multidisciplinary research in the fields of gender and sexuality studies among other disciplines.

Produced by Keith Brown, Gay Spirit Radio has operated out of the University of Hartford’s WWUH campus studio for the past 37 years.  This website contains interviews shared as digital stories and are divided into four themes: Civil Rights, HIV/AIDS, Youth Engagement, and Entertainment. Listen to Gay Spirit live every Thursday from 8:30PM – 9:00PM on WWUH 91.3FM. Gay Spirit follows This Way Out, the award-winning weekly international LGBT radio program from 8:00PM to 8:30PM.
